Frequently Asked Questions

Everything You Need to Know About Our Daycare

Choosing a daycare is a big decision. Below are answers to the most frequently asked questions we receive from Boise families considering Faye’s Family Daycare. If you don’t see your question here, feel free to call us at (208) 345-4641 or email fayeheilesen@gmail.com — we’re happy to help.

  • What ages do you accept?

We care for children from infancy through 6 years old. This includes:

    • Infants (0–12 months)
    • Toddlers (1–2 years)
    • Preschoolers (3–5 years)
    • School-age children (up to age 6) for before and after school care
  • What are your hours of operation?

We’re open Monday through Friday from 5:30 AM to 6:30 PM. Our extended hours help accommodate early work shifts and later pick-ups.

  • Is Faye’s Family Daycare licensed?

Yes. Faye’s Family Daycare is fully licensed in the state of Idaho and complies with all local regulations for home-based daycare, including safety, sanitation, and child development standards.

  • Where is your daycare located?

We’re located in the North End of Boise at:

    1904 N 28th St, Boise, ID 83703

Our location is convenient to many local neighborhoods, schools, and commuter routes.

  • Do you offer before and after school care?

Yes. I offer before and after school care for children up to 6 years old. This includes early morning drop-off before school and afternoon care once school is done. We provide snacks, quiet time, supervised play, and support with routines.

  • How many children are in your care at one time?

I maintain small group sizes to ensure personalized care. Group size varies by age but always follows Idaho’s child-to-provider ratio regulations. Smaller groups also help children feel more secure and foster closer bonds.

  • How do you handle infant care?

Infants receive individualized attention in a calm, quiet environment. I follow safe sleep practices, diapering and feeding schedules, and developmental support. Infants are held, soothed, and engaged in age-appropriate sensory play.

  • What kind of learning is included?

Our learning approach blends structure with play. For toddlers and preschoolers, we focus on:

    • Letters, numbers, colors, and shapes
    • Storytelling, music, and art
    • Fine motor activities like puzzles and crafts
    • Social-emotional skills like sharing and cooperation
    • Daily routines that build confidence and independence

Our preschool program helps prepare children for kindergarten in a warm, low-stress environment.

  • How do you handle potty training?

I work closely with families to support potty training routines at daycare that are consistent with what you're doing at home. Positive reinforcement, patience, and routine make the process smoother for children.

  • What happens if my child gets sick?

If your child is ill, we ask that they remain at home until they’re symptom-free or cleared to return based on health guidelines. If a child becomes sick while in our care, we contact you immediately and provide a comfortable space for them to rest until pick-up.

  • How do you communicate with parents?

You’ll receive daily updates at pick-up, and we’re always open to suggestions for your child’s care. For infants, I can track naps, feedings, and diapers, while for older children, I’ll share notes on learning progress and behavior when needed. You can also reach me anytime by phone or email for open communication.

  • Title or Question

    To begin the enrollment process:

    1. Call or email to check availability or schedule a tour
    2. Complete the enrollment forms (application, medical history, immunizations)
    3. Discuss your child’s needs and schedule
    4. Finalize your start date and care plan

I recommend scheduling a visit early, as spots fill up quickly.

  • What should I bring with my child each day?

I’ll provide a checklist during enrollment, but generally:

    • Diapers and wipes (if applicable)
    • Bottles, formula or breast milk (for infants)
    • Extra clothing
    • Lunch (if not provided)
    • Comfort items like a blanket or pacifier
    • Any medications with documentation

I keep your child’s items organized and ensure everything goes home daily.

  • Do you allow visits before enrolling?

Absolutely! I encourage all new families to schedule a tour to meet Faye, explore the daycare environment, and ask questions. It’s the best way to get a feel for how we care for children and whether we’re the right fit for your family.
